Services & Expertise

I provide Individual and Couples’ Therapy, working primarily with Adult clients. (I may choose to see some adolescent clients in my Area of Specialty, IBD.) My approach is personalized to each client’s needs and goals. I am able to draw from my excellent, broad training, and many years of experience, whatever I see as most beneficial to a particular client. Personal insight, balance, resiliency, new perspectives, and improved communication and coping skills are all nurtured, in a warm, compassionate environment. Some of the philosophies and approaches I find to be especially helpful are:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) — teaches the client (You) to recognize and change self-sabotaging perspectives and behaviors to more helpful ones, which results in improved mood and relationships. The belief guiding this approach is that we document and shape our own experience, and can learn to see ourselves, others, and the world differently and better.

Mindfulness — is a philosophy and practice in which intentional focus on the present, with an attitude of curiosity, acceptance, and compassion for whatever’s there, is honed. Regular practice can greatly improve mood, strengthen relationships, and help one cope with pain and/or chronic illness. It enhances quality of life!

Couples Therapy — maintains that intimacy in relationships is achieved by fostering secure bonds. As each partner becomes increasingly skilled at identifying their own emotions, and communicating their feelings to their partner, behaviors can be changed to effect healthier cycles of interaction. This leads to greater emotional connection and satisfaction, as the relationship becomes safe and healing for both partners.
